I was thinking of Joey all day today on this fourth anniversary of losing him.  I thought of visiting this site and am so glad I did.  It is so heartwarming being reminded of all the  stories of Joey and  the love he spread to so many in his short life.  We are all  blessed to have known him.

So sorry to hear about Joey, our hearts break for you.  Sorry we can't be there as we are in Florida, but know we are thinking of you.

We used to have Joey over to visit with our kids when we lived in Brighton. He was always so friendly and easy to talk with. His charm and caring attitude was a wonderful role model for Tommy. Although we lost touch with him in recent years, we've always had a fondness for the memories that our family created with Joey.

Love you always dear Joey, treasuring times with you until I see you in heaven.   You made growing in God's salvation and recovery  a light with many treasured blessings. Joey, you’re the only person on this earth that I thought of as an actual brother. I’m thankful for all of the beautiful memories we shared together.  I mean we were so close at one point that we shared a dream together.  Im a spiritual person, not religious, but that’s what religion is supposed to teach in my opinion.  I remember we snuck out when I was 16 and you were 15 and we were at Dunham beach on the hill just after the parking lot, I had just gotten my car it was all blacked out and we were going around telling all your friends that we were actual brothers and the funny thing is, is that we looked so alike people had no clue.  We were talking about life and I started talking about this dream I had and that you were in it, then you started saying things that happened in the dream that I hadn’t even talked about yet, it was my first shared dreaming experience, that was the moment in my life that proved that there’s an afterlife or that something like that can even happen, Joey we proved that there’s a heaven after we die, how beautiful is that?  That’s when I knew 100 percent that heaven is real... We always had so much in common growing up, we always thought farts were hilarious, we’d always be at Dunham lake together fishing or catching frogs and turtles. We’d be swimming across the entire lake and Joey you were the best swimmer I knew, I remember swimming from one raft of Dunham lake to the next and thinking I wasn’t going to make it with you, I know tony was there too and maybe two other people.  I remember going fishing with you 3 years ago on Dunham lake in your aluminum row boat and we caught over 20 bass in one day in like 3 hours, we caught a bass within every 3 casts that day, it was the best bass fishing day I’ve ever had.  I remember talking with you about meditation and spirituality a lot when we were growing. I love you so much Joey, I’ll miss you on this earth brother, but I’m happy that you’re in peace and I know we have many memories to make.

Dear Ginny, Tom, Mia and Liam,
You all have my deepest sympathies.  I can’t look out our kitchen window without thinking about Joey. I see him at 6 or 7 picking mulberries. It seemed like he was always by a tree, in a tree or wading in water. He was a true friend to Bryan through all these years and we will love him and miss him forever.

We had such a good visit with Joey and his Grandpa Bruce a few years back. Sitting at the picnic table and telling Bruce and Joe stories. Joey really enjoyed them. We cannot imagine your loss, our hearts are breaking. We love you all. 

We love Joey and are so heartbroken over his passing.  This is a picture that we love of Joey and Logan on the Cub Scouts' Pinewood Derby day.  They raced their cars and, afterward, we brought Joey home with us and they made pizzas from fresh dough.  He was such a loving boy with a kind and generous heart.  We also have fond memories of Logan and Joey catching frogs in the pond and dragging a deer carcass out of the woods to show us. They had great adventures together and we got to share those times!  We are praying for you and your family at this time of great sorrow.  May God bless you and comfort you all.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Joey coming into the library at Round with his beautiful smile, his kind heart, and quiet friendship. I know he gave your family much joy and Joey will be missed. May God give you some peace in your sorrow. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Prayers, peace and condolences to the entire McMullen family as you go through this heart wrenching and difficult time.  I knew Joey for most of his life and had the fortune to spend many hours with him.  I will miss his smile and easy going manner with that little bit of sarcastic  twinkle in his eye.  Always letting you know that he knew something that you didn't.   Today, I reflect on Joey and will miss him, the world is a little dimmer today.

My memories of Joey are all from riding the school bus together throughout the years. He was always so willing to talk and befriend those who he encountered. Even through his struggles, he always had a kind heart and gentle nature. Sending prayers and thoughts to the entire McMullen family.

We lost our sweet Joey yesterday to a long hard fight but his spirit will not be diminished and his loving nature not forgotten.

Joey was not only an employee at our company,  but Angelica and I have always thought of Joey as a son.  We will always remember his smile,  his sense of humor and his crazy dance moves he showed us while vacationing in Mexico with him.  He touched so many of our lives.  Rest in peace, Joey and God Bless you and your Family.  Always in our Hearts and Prayers.


Joey was one of my very first friends in Hartland. He was a great friend and a great person. My heart is heavy for the McMullen family today. You are in my thoughts and prayers today. Sending love your way.
