Ben was born on Nov. 29, 1950 to James Samuel Morgan, Sr. and Jewel Grace Paulson.
He graduated high school from Harding Academy in 1969 and worked many years at Warren Radio Company in Memphis before attending nursing school. He retired from nursing at the Memphis Jewish Home after 24 years of service.
Ben is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 30 years, Brenda L. Morgan. He is survived by his two daughters, Christina Morgan (Cory Purkey), Michelle Lewis (Jeff Lewis), three granddaughters, Shelby, Elaina, Alissa and one great-granddaughter, Amelia. He also leaves behind siblings, Jim Morgan (Carolyn Morgan) and Cindy Leavell, along with three nieces and one nephew.
Ben, a kind, gentle and quiet man, enjoyed fishing, listening to good ole rock ‘n’ roll music, woodworking and spending time with his family.
The family expresses deep gratitude to Leora Horn, Emily Skotte and all the wonderful nurses and staff at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center who took such great care of Ben. As well as a special thank you to the comforting staff of Avalon Hospice.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave., Memphis, TN. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21 at 2 p.m. at Family Funeral Care with graveside services to follow at Memphis Memory Gardens at 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Road, Memphis, TN.
