October 16, 1943 – March 11, 2020
In loving memory of Alfred Carl Grammer Sr. Married to Ursula Ellelaine Grammer for over 51 years. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred born October 16, 1943 and died March 11, 2020. Alfred is deeply mourned and sadly missed by Alfred’s wife Ursula, daughter Amelia (Mia) + son-in-law Marty Pedersen, son Alfred (Alf) and numerous friends, family members, business colleagues, and associates globally. Alfred was a good husband, father, and a good friend to many who knew him.
Alfred was born in South Africa and immigrated to Canada in 1980 with his wife and two children. Education was very important in his life. In South Africa he was a teacher, became a draftsman, and in Canada started an infrared scanning company. Regardless of all of his successes, he remained very humble and was always generous to people in need. He was always well respected by his colleagues and associates. Words cannot describe the loss and sadness we feel with the passing of Alfred.
He after having experienced a fairly healthy life span of 76 years was struck by an aggressive cancer, which robbed him of his life too soon after just being diagnosed with cancer. Alfred loved life, he enjoyed meeting people, had a great sense of humor, he loved to recite poetry, he had a real gift of conversation, and he enjoyed the impromptu singing at social gatherings. In South Africa he sang in the Christian Fellowship Male Voice Choir and in Canada for many years he was a member of the Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir. He always had time or made time to do a good deed for others.
Alfred, your legacy of kindness and love will always be appreciated and remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing you. May God be with you always and until we meet again.
Celebration of life will be at a later time.
