Marzieh was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted Baha’i. When she was just 16 years of age Marzieh, along with her mother, pioneered for the Baha’i Faith to Alaska. This is where Marzieh attended and graduated from West Valley High School, class of 1958. After graduation she became a secretary at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska. She began traveling across the Northwest and Alaska for the Baha’i Faith conducting 22 different seminars. Marzieh then served in Haifa at the Baha’i World Center. Once she completed her time abroad she moved to Chicago, Illinois where she worked for the Baha’i National Office. It was there where she found and married the love of her life William Pharr Hunter.
In addition to her husband William P. Hunter, she is survived by her daughter Kimberly Elaine (Miller) Manie-Oskoii and her husband Mehran Manie-Oskoii; her son Richard Kevin Miller and his wife Marybeth Barcome; her grandchildren Vahid Manie-Oskoii and his wife Holly (Mueller) Manie-Oskoii, Richard Nathaniel Miller and his wife Sherese (Myers) Miller, Shabnam (Manie-Oskoii) Elston and her husband Jesse Elston, Benjamin Miller and his wife Brittany (Hodges) Miller, Addison Miller, Rosalie (Miller) Kelly and her husband John Kelly, Leif Carlson, and Amelia Carlson; and many great-grandchildren.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 19th at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024. For those who wish to remember Marzieh in a special way, please make gifts in her name to the charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in September.
