passed away on March 15, 2020 at North Island Hospital.
Born in Laramie, Wyoming on June 25, 1938 to Alven and Elizabeth Raume.
Bill was born in Wyoming and later moved to Washington State with his family at a young age. Bill attended Washington State University and graduated with a degree in business. Bill met Judy Snowberger in Seattle and they married in 1958. Bill worked for a short time at Boeing in Washington with his father, Alven.
In 1969, Bill and Judy moved their family from the US to Canada. They lived in Nimpo Lake, BC where they owned and operated a fishing resort. In 1972, the family moved up to Smithers, BC where they owned and operated a small business. Bill was quite involved in the Smithers Rotary Club and the Hudson Bay Mountain ski hill. After they retired in 1998, Bill and Judy moved to Ladysmith to enjoy retirement on the island. They later moved up island to Courtenay to be closer to family.
Bill was predeceased by his parents – Alven Anderson and Elizabeth Grace Raume.
Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy Raume; his two sons, Craig (Prince George) and Eric (Courtenay); and his grandsons, Dustin and Jordan (Eric’s boys) and Anders and Kristoffer (Craig’s boys). His is also survived by his brother, Ron Raume (Vashon Island, WA); and sisters, Dr. Bets Raume (Randle, WA) and Nancy Carr (Vashon Island, WA); as well as his nephew Kelly (St. Augustine, FL) and niece Shannon (Seattle, WA) and their children.
As per Bill’s wishes, he will be cremated, and his ashes scattered by his family later this summer. Bill asked specifically for no service and no donations in his name.
