Francine Reisman Blacher, longtime resident of New York City, died unexpectedly on March 18th due to complications of Cancer and COVID-19. She was 77 years old.
She is survived by her daughter, Lauren Blacher Goldrich and her younger sister, Janice Reisman Fincher, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of Max Reisman and Lillian Friedman. She attended and graduated from Henry Grady High School and Greenleaf Business College in Atlanta. Francine enjoyed ballet and dancing as a young girl and was one of the youngest members of her dance company in Miami, Florida at age 7. As a teen she was a finalist in the Miss Atlanta Beauty Pageant where she performed jazz dance as her talent.
In her early twenties she moved to the New York area to be married and soon gave birth to her only daughter and biggest joy in life, Lauren. After her divorce 7 years later, she eventually began her long career in real estate, and became the very successful broker owner of City Nest Realty for the past 35 years.
Besides shopping with a vengeance, she enjoyed all sorts of music, dancing, and spending time with her wonderful friends at Book Club. Francine also always maintained so many close relationships with her family and friends in Atlanta. She had the most magnetic personality acquiring friends everywhere…..which could fill a stadium and then some.
Over the past few years, she was fortunate enough to travel around the world with her sister, Janice to such places as Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Seville, Marrakech, and cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. She also went on a very special trip with her sister and daughter to Paris in 2017. And in the past several years Francine joined her close girlfriends on trips to many great cities all over the country.
Francine and Janice were not only sisters but were best friends. When Francine was 19, her mother passed away and she became like a mother to her younger sister. Francine and her daughter, Lauren, had a very close, wonderful and loving relationship. They were very fortunate to have been able to spend so much time together, as a result of living so closely to each other in New York City.
Francine will be remembered for her huge heart, beautiful smile and vivacious personality that radiated from her in the most magical way. She had a way of making everyone feel so special, like they were her best friend. She was a giving and loving mother, sister and friend. Her memory will live on forever in all our hearts.
At this time, a funeral or service is not possible, however, there will be a service to celebrate her life sometime this Summer or Fall. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to Stand Up to Cancer or a charity of your choice.
