Albert R. “Tic Toc” Tinoco Sr., 86 of KCMO, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Private services were held on Monday, March 23, 2020 at Sacred Heart-Guadalupe Church. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in a private burial. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Albert was born on August 9, 1933 in Kansas City, Missouri to Josephina (Rocha) & Gregorio Tinoco. He met his wife, Angelina “Halo” Perez, in 1950 right before the Flood. They married on August 9, 1951. Albert had various jobs throughout his life, but he favored his time in the foodservice industry at the Kansas City Club, Muehlebach Hotel, Eddy’s Catering, and Meadowbrook Country Club.
A lifelong resident of the Westside community, Albert’s doors were open to everyone from the community – everyone knew him as “Tic Toc,” “Mr. T,” and “Grandpa Tinoco.” Albert was well-known at the Mexican-American fastpitch games in Kansas and Missouri. Once you heard the words, “SIT DOWN! SIT DOWN! SIT DOWN!!” or “THE MAN IS WILD!” – you knew Tic Toc was there!
Albert loved sports – he loved the Missouri Tigers, Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed spending time with his family on Sundays. He loved going to dances and fiestas to listen to Tejano music – he loved to party! One of the things he cherished the most was hanging pictures of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren on his walls in his living room for all to see.
Albert is preceded in death by his wife, Angelina “Halo”; his sons, Albert Jr. (Cynthia) & Michael; his daughter, Gloria; his parents, Josephina & Gregorio Tinoco; his sister, Carmen Soltero; his brother; Gabriel Tinoco. He is survived by his siblings, Joe & John Tinoco; his children, Daniel (Lucy), Rose, David (Sonia), Tina, Gilbert (Miceala), and Robert; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the entire Westside community for helping the Tinoco family build memories that will be cherished forever. Special thanks to McGilley Midtown Funeral Home and Sacred Heart-Guadalupe Church for going above and beyond during these difficult times.
