Patricia Burke Hatfield, 89, of Flushing, NY, passed away on March 20, 2020 at Carolina Reserve in Hendersonville, NC. She was the wife of the late Richard B. Hatfield. Born Thursday March 5, 1931 to Alphonsus and Irene (née Heffernan) Casey, she was raised in Hickory, PA, where she graduated from high school in 1949. A devoted wife and stay at home mother to her family, Pat also worked first as a waitress and, later, as an interior designer. Her love of chocolate led to her being her husband’s Number 1 client in his business as an independent confectionary broker until their mutual retirement at age 63.
Upon retirement, Pat and Dick relocated to Ocala, FL where they were charter members of the Ocala Palms community. She enjoyed traveling and favorite hobbies included dancing, playing cards, crossword puzzles, eating ice cream and spending time with family. In her later years, she was a much-loved resident at Sunrise of Mt. Vernon in Alexandria, VA and Carolina Reserve in Hendersonville, NC.
Pat is survived by sons Brien (Kathie) Hatfield of Lake Lure, NC; Michael (Jill) Hatfield of Easton, MA; daughters Robin Kull of Columbus, OH; Nancy (John) Boustead of Mattoon, IL and five grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, James Casey of Algonquin, IL, Robert Casey of Crown Point, IN, sister Clare Phillips of Phoenix, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, infant son Patrick, sisters Mary Lou and Sharon, and granddaughter, Kimberly.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Four Seasons Hospice in Hendersonville, NC.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff members of Sunrise of Mt. Vernon, Carolina Reserve of Hendersonville, and Four Seasons Hospice. All of these caring individuals treated Pat with the utmost love and compassion and contributed immensely to the quality of the last years of her life.
