Roger was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, on September 15th, 1938. He graduated from University of Wisconsin at Madison with a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) in Finance. After graduation, he served as a Naval officer on the USS Soley destroyer. Roger began his career with Mobil Oil in 1972. His career took him on a journey around the world from Milwaukee to the Netherlands to New York City and finally to Dallas where he met and married Karel Lyn Ternasky in 1981. He retired from Exxon Mobil in 1995 as a Computer Applications and Systems Manager. His life truly began after retirement where he enjoyed spending time alongside his wife, Kay, coaching both of his sons' little league baseball teams, spending countless weekends traveling with his eldest son, Reed, to race go-karts and watching his youngest son, Kevin, play in Plano West High School and University of Oklahoma Lacrosse tournaments.
He excelled in many sports, including baseball and tennis, but his favorite was golf, which he played two to three times per week and scored 2 hole-in-ones in his golf career. Roger never cut his ties to Wisconsin and continued friendships from his early years. Almost every August he would drive up for his high school reunion, which included playing in the Dixie Ramble Scramble golf tournament, and enjoying plenty of beer, bratwurst and cheese. He continued to be an enthusiastic fan of the University of Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, two sons, Reed (wife Alyssa) of Seattle, WA, Kevin (wife Crystal) and two grandchildren Addison and Connor of Ft Worth, TX, and sister Julie Hillery of Boulder Junction, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Helena Froehlich of Clearwater, FL.
He will be laid to rest at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Friday, March 27th. Due to the public health crisis, a memorial will be held at a future date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to www.lungcancerresearchfoundation.org in his honor.
