Alice Elizabeth Wedlake nee Sharpe age 103 passed peacefully into life eternal on March 20, 2020 at the SunCoast Hospice Care Center in Pinellas Park, FL. Born in Paterson, NJ, on June 28, 1916, she was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Albert in 2007. They lived in Totowa, NJ, from 1940 to 1980 where they operated a family furniture business, Accadia-Wedlake. They were seasonal residents of Englewood, FL, since 1954 and summer residents at Twin Lakes in Shohola, PA. Most recently Alice was a resident of Princeton Village ALF in Largo, FL.
Alice is lovingly survived by her son, James Wedlake and his wife, Pam, of Seminole, FL and Northport, AL, and daughter, Alice-Jane Loewrigkeit and her husband, Peter, of Dunedin, FL and Shohola, PA, as well as four grandchildren: Ingrid Pimley and Kirsten Loewrigkeit of Oakland,NJ; Caryn Pruet of Northport, AL; and Brian Wedlake of Palmetto, FL; nine great grandchildren: Rachel, Nigel, Matthew, Evan, Liam, Sean, Finn, John & Greyson.
Alice will always be remembered for her kindness and concern for her family and many friends. She has been described as a cross between Mother Teresa and Lucille Ball. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Totowa, NJ, for many years as well as St. David’s Episcopal Church in Englewood, FL. She was a charter member of the Englewood Does and a volunteer at the Englewood Hospital. She has been a member of the Mt. View, NJ, Chapter of the Eastern Star since 1956 and a member of the Milford, PA, Garden Club.
Interment in the family plot at the Milford, PA Cemetery will take place sometime in the future at the family’s convenience.
