Dianne “Diney” Kennard Dickerson was called home unexpectedly to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 19, 2020, at the age of 79 in her home in The Woodlands, TX. Dianne was born on November 29, 1940 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to parents Zelton and Dorothy Stringer. She attended Louisiana State University where she studied piano.
Dianne donned many hats during her lifetime: loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, pianist, philanthropist, and seamstress, to name a few. She loved to quilt and sew, and she took her sewing
passion from hobby to career. She started her own business and for many years made beautiful drapes, bedspreads and other home décor. She also used her talents to make her granddaughters’
smocked and embroidered clothing, including the most exquisite flower girl dresses. Dianne was a member and one-time President of Baton Rouge Trianon, an organization supporting children with
intellectual and developmental disabilities. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in which she served as 2nd Vice Regent in Brevard, NC. Through the St. Phillips
Episcopal Church of Brevard, Dianne volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club. Each Christmas she dressed as Mrs. Claus for the boys and girls to pick out gifts to give to their loved ones. She was known as a
loving and accepting woman and a source of comfort to family and friends in times of need. From stray animals to neighbors, Dianne’s warm heart and home were always open to all. Dianne was an exceptional pianist, bringing life to the works of many composers from Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach to Gershwin and Bernstein. She was an avid bridge player and an ardent sports fan. She experienced the joy of seeing her LSU Tigers win a national championship in football. Her two favorite teams were the Tigers and the Texas Aggies. Her most recent sporting events included her great grandkids’ tee-ball and lacrosse games, where she was the most enthusiastic spectator. On her list of favorite memories and things she enjoyed most, was watching her two boys play sports as they grew up, especially baseball! She will be remembered by her family and friends as a ray of light who brightened even the darkest of days. She had numerous, deep and loving friendships and touched many lives throughout her lifetime.
Dianne is survived by her loving husband Lemmie Dickerson; two sons and their spouses, David and Tanua Kennard, Darin and Aimee Kennard; her sister Debra Stringer Parker; brother Byron Stringer and
wife Fran; 7 grandchildren, Ryan Kennard, Coby Kennard, Madison Thomas, Kendyl Fuller, Emily Stavinoha, Jeanne Lea Delahoussaye, and Harper Delahoussaye; 4 great grandchildren, Aden Thomas, Logan and Landon Fuller and Kaia Kennard, and stepchildren Lemmie Dickerson Jr., Kristen Delahoussaye and husband John Paul, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dianne was preceded in death by A.J. Kennard, loving husband and father to David and Darin Kennard, mother and father Zelton and Dorothy Stringer, maternal grandparents Robert and Dena Wolsefer, and
paternal grandparents Travis and Nora Stringer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association or Trianon of Baton Rouge
