February 12, 1927 – March 23, 2020
On March 23, 2020, Carol Ann Oxner (Rothenberg) passed away peacefully while recovering from pneumonia in her personal care home in Georgetown, TX. Born February 12, 1927, she was 93 years old.
Originally from Dayton, OH, Carol and her husband Edwin S. Oxner, originally from Essex, MA, reared 4 children while living in various parts of the U.S. including Dayton OH, Chicago IL, Tucson AZ, Scotch Plains NJ, the San Francisco Bay Area in CA, and most recently, since 1993, the greater Austin area in TX.
Primarily a homemaker for most of her adult life, she focused on providing support to her husband and children. Carol was a strong, evangelical Christian who placed great emphasis on living out her Christian faith and values and sharing these with others.
She and her husband Ed worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their kids over the years in support of their education, vocation and faith & values. She would proudly boast about all four of her children and their various life pursuits beyond graduating college, and that, “I also raised each of them to be followers of Jesus Christ.” Carol had a heart for missions and was a passionate, dedicated volunteer in support of missions and ministry in much of her spare time. One of her life-long favorite Bible verses was Matthew 25:23, “His Lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful…enter into the joy of the Lord.” (KJV)
Carol was a gifted amateur artist, illustrator, and painter. Carol also enjoyed music, nature and the great outdoors, especially camping and visiting many U.S National Parks & Forests.
Carol is survived by her husband Edwin (92), her younger sister, Joan Martin of Lacey, WA and her children: Cynthia Peck of Dillon, MT; Sheila Johnston of Georgetown, TX; Todd Oxner of Greensboro, NC and Peter Oxner of Madison, NJ.
