Stanley is survived by his wife, Heather, sons Donnie and Randy, 3 grandchildren, brothers Darrel and David and sister Doreen, as well as his extended family in Alberta (Nancy, Debbie and 3 grandchildren) He is predeceased by his mother Lena, father Gerald, brother Stewart and sister Deloris.
Stanley was born on April 30, 1945 in Plympton, Nova Scotia. In his late teens and early 20's, Stanley lived in Ontario before returning to Nova Scotia, where he spent most of his life.
He worked in forestry and as a truck driver in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he met Heather. They married in 1975, and Stanley stayed a devoted and loyal husband to Heather (Amero) for 45 years.
For many years, Stanley proved to be a dependable friend and caretaker for many elderly people in the community. Most recently, Stanley took it upon himself to assist William (Willie) Hardy. Through Stanley's thoughtfulness, compassion and caring, Willie has been able to enjoy his independence and a better quality of life.
Stanley enjoyed engaging in social activities, such as playing cards at both Bear River and Cornwallis community centres. He also loved telling a story and sharing a good joke with friends and family.
A special thanks to Dr McDonald, Dr Chahal, and Dr Moses in the ICU at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Also thanks to Dr McCormick in Digby Emergency and to the staff at Digby Superstore Pharmacy.
Due to the unusual circumstances with COVID -19, there will be no funeral service at this time. Until a memorial service date can be arranged, friends and loved ones are asked to keep him and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
