Rosa Nell was born in Milam County on August 23, 1926 to her parents, J.H. Parker and Julia Dodson Parker. She had three brothers and three sisters. At an early age, she and her family moved to San Benito, Texas where she grew up, went to school, and eventually married the love of her life, Samuel E. Albritton, on May 6, 1946. After they married, they moved to Raymondville, Texas and had three children. She was a dedicated homemaker and loving mother. Church was a central part of Rosie’s life. Together with her husband, she served at Raymondville Church of Christ for almost 40 years until they moved to College Station, Texas in 1985, where they became members at A&M Church of Christ.
After nearly 60 years of marriage, S.E. passed away in 2005 and Rosie lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Sandy Burns, until her death in 2020. Rosie enjoyed crochet, playing cards and dominoes, and she kept a daily journal for more than 40 years. She loved traveling back to the Rio Grande Valley to spend time with her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren there. She also enjoyed watching sports on television with Sandy, watching the birds outside her window, and going on evening rides to count deer. In addition, she had read the Bible at least 5 times, and she loved listening to and singing Hymns. She was an amazing cook known especially for her delicious Sunday dinners. She looked forward to the many visits from her great-grandchildren, some of whom often brought various instruments and sang for her. Rosie had expressed a desire to live to at least 93 so that she would have lived longer than any of her siblings or parents. Most importantly, she loved the Lord and kept His Word close to her heart. Rosie leaves behind a great legacy and example to those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.H. and Julia D. Parker, her husband, S. E. Albritton, her daughter, Sammye Jo Harris, her 3 brothers, H. Lester Parker, J.D. Parker, and Walter E. Parker, and her three sisters, Ruby Arledge, Gladys Aschinger, and Vesta Thomas.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Susan Burns (married to Sandy) of College Station, Rusty Albritton (married to Kathy) of Lyford, TX, and her son-in-law, Carol Harris (wife Sammye Jo deceased) of Arlington, TX. Her ten grandchildren are Carol Harris Jr. (married to Pam), Scott Harris (married to Julie), Bryan Harris (married to Laurie), Jamie Harris (married to Lauren), Ashley Harris, Lindsey Fouda (married to Abdo), Misti Mason, Krystal Bridges (married to Matthew), Joey Albritton (married to Becky), and Katy Jo Albritton (married to Duillo Cabrera). Her twenty-three great-grandchildren are Lauren Corder (married to Michael), Jessica Hoover (married to Trip), Nolan Harris, Eric Harris, Isaac Harris, Audrey Harris, Jake Harris, Abbie Jo Harris, Hunter Harris, Ava Jane Harris, Ella Harris, Owen Harris, Wyatt Harris, Safiya Fouda, Ali Fouda, Brielle Mason, Ainsley Mason, Reagan Mason, Luke Albritton, Hannah Albritton, Josiah Cabrera, Jonathan Cabrera, and Trullis Bridges. Her three special nieces are Julie Wilson (married to Jerry), Sandy Peeples (married to Tom), Annie Jo Simmons (married to Joe), and her one special nephew is Bert Parker (married to Terri). She had numerous nieces and nephews and many friends whom she loved dearly.
