Memorial contributions may be made to Celia Yap-Banago Memorial Nursing Scholarship, https://www.theresearchfoundationkc.org/how-to-help/ The Research Foundation established a scholarship in Celia's name.
Mrs. Celia Yap-Banago was born on July 7, 1950 in Camalig, Albay, Philippines. She was the first of our family to immigrate to the United States. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Aquinas University in the Philippines. She is the youngest of 7 and comes from a family oriented background. She first moved to Florida and then found her way home to Kansas City, MO. She has worked her entire life as a selfless and compassionate nurse. She and dad recently celebrated 34 years of marriage. She was days short of celebrating her 40 years of service to HCA. She proudly put on her scrubs for many years and it is extremely apparent she loved what she was doing. She has a strong support system in her family at home, but also extremely loved and cared for by her family at work. She is a hero and now our guardian angel.
She was preceded in death by Vicente Yap (Father), Bienvenido Yap (Brother), Vicente Yap, Jr. (Brother), and Aurelia Yap (Mother).
She is survived by Luz Moyo (Sister), Benilda Yap (Sister), Florita Yap (Sister), Edgardo Yap (Brother), Amado Banago (Husband and Love of her Life), Jhulan Banago (Son), Josh Banago (Son), Marilyn Moyo (Niece), Milane Ramos (Niece), and Mary Jiel Yap (Niece).
