Margaret was born in River Bourgeois, Cape Breton Island to Joseph and Clara Burke (Landry) on September 22, 1918. She was the second oldest of sixteen children, She married in 1951 and raised five children. Margaret was a member of St Theresa’s Roman Catholic Parish in Halifax for over 60 years.
Margaret is survived by her children, Ronald (Lillian) and Kenneth (Mary), Halifax; William (Lucy) Calgary, AB; Fr Earl, SJ, St. John’s, NL, Joan (Ron) Dartmouth. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Vincent.
Margaret was adored by her granddaughters: Jennifer, Rebecca and Orla, Halifax; Molly, Dartmouth; Jillian, New Maryland NB; Anna, Fredericton, NB; Meghan, Natal, Brazil; Danielle and Leah, Toronto, ON; Caitlin, Bedell, NB; Emily, Norman Wells, NWT, as well as Grandsons: Scott, Andrew, and Brennan, Halifax; Louie, Calgary AB; Jono, Montreal, PQ.
Margaret had 6 Great Grandchildren: Austin, Avery, Adrian, Archer, Talia and Charlotte. She is also survived by sisters Theresa Landry, Irene McLaughlin, Mary Burke, Emily Harding (Fred) and brothers Roderick, John, Richard (Lisa).
She was predeceased by a sister Anna and brothers Vitus, Ernest, Alex, Frederick, Raymond, Anthony and Edward. She had over 80 nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Halifax.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Northwood Manor for their care of our mother over the past two years. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to a local Food Bank, Canadian Jesuits International or a charity of your choice.
