Joe graduated from Chamberlain High School in Tampa and went on to earn a B.S. in physics at Florida State University in 1967. He then worked as an electrical engineer for 39 years at Robins Air Force Base, during which he always strove to "keep them flying."
Following his retirement from Robins Air Force Base, Joe began his second career as a granddad. Da, as he was called by his six grandchildren, enjoyed sharing his love of science and sailing with all of them.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Kennedy; his sons, Richard W. Kennedy (Michelle) and Allen D. Kennedy (Rebecca); his grandchildren, John-Wesley, Katelyn, Ian, Alice, Riley, and Liam Kennedy; brother, Ralph M. Kennedy (Judie); sister-in-law, Sharran Kennedy; many nephews and nieces; and a host of other family and friends.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Burt W. and Cleora Kennedy, and his brother, Patrick "Jerry" Kennedy. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
