Geraldine Kuester Gentry, age 90, most recently of Oviedo, Florida, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020. She was born on June 23, 1929 to Bertha Holtz Kuester and Clarence John Kuester in Evansville,Indiana. She was predeceased by her husband Louis Joseph “Joe” Gentry in 1993. Gerry attended Purdue University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was a long-time resident of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, Atlanta, Georgia, and Trinity, Florida.
Gerry's greatest passions included her deep faith in God, music, and singing barbershop harmony. Gerry was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and was very active in church activities including the women's group, vacation Bible school, and the social outreach ministry. Her faith led her to share her beautiful voice singing in the church choir where she was often a soloist. For over 20 years she competed in barbershop musical competitions as a member of Sweet Adelines International, singing with Winter Park's Sound of Sunshine Show Chorus and the Toast of Tampa Show Chorus.
She is survived by her sister, June Stiles, of Charleston, West Virginia. Children: Susan Gentry, Mark Gentry (Margaret Weeks) and Pastor Sally Gentry Cook (Greg). Grandchildren: Kristin Kelch (Ben), Joseph M. Spivak (Maryann), Lindsey Reed (Benjamin), Sara Gentry-Weeks Tremaglio (Andy), and Eric Gentry-Weeks. Great Grandchildren: Madeline Kelch, Kacie Kelch, Allison Kelch, Joseph H. Spivak, Alexandra Spivak, Miller Reed, and Domenic Tremaglio.
