Martha was born July 1, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas to Manuel and Magdalena Ledesma. Early in her career she attended Houston Community College aiming for her bachelor's degree. She was just a few credits shy when her career became too demanding and she was unable to reach her goal. We hoped one day she would have the opportunity again to complete her education, but we are still proud of the accomplishments she was able to make in life.
Martha's career started in the telecommunications field as an operator for Southwestern Bell in San Antonio, TX. Her experience grew as she advanced in her field to become a communications technician for several companies including Sharpstown General Hospital, Hermann Hospital and Rice University. When she moved on from telecommunications, she thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work for HEB as a Party Planner. This suited her perfectly, as everyone knows she could throw one heck of a party! She never met a stranger, lit up a room and was always the life of the party. She had a smile that was infectious and was never at a loss of words. She was a Sunday school teacher, a Boy Scout volunteer and an avid reader. Later in life, Martha was offered the best opportunity anyone could ask for, as raising and caring for her grandbabies became her new mission in life. Martha's biggest passion was her family, especially her grandchildren whom she cared for and spoiled at every opportunity.
Martha was preceded in death by her father Manuel Ledesma; her youngest brother, Jesse Ledesma; and her older sister, Linda Coble. She leaves behind her loving husband of 14 years, Wayne Alford; her two sons, Raul Araiza and wife Vivian, Ryan Araiza and wife Charlene; her two daughters, Vicky Araiza, Scarlett Whittaker; ten grandchildren, Jordan and Ian Whittaker, Emma, Aiden and Jonah Araiza, Alex and Britney Watkins, Trent and Trey Sneed, Preciliano Delgado; her mother, Magdalena Ledesma; older sisters, Clara Sandifer, Rose Dalton; younger brother Jimmy Ledesma; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
