James “Jim” Wayne Fields, age 73, of White Lake, died Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Anita; his three children: Amy (Aaron) Grzymkowski, James (Tina) Fields, and Mark A. (Shari) Fields; nine grandchildren: Jackson, Harrison, Abigail, Pierce, Coleman, Esmé, Asher, Gracie, and Audric; his siblings: Lorraine Huddleston, Edward (Corrie) Fields, and Freda (Larry) Holt; a myriad of brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members that he held so very dear in life.
Jim was born July 27, 1946, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, the son of James Coleman and Ruth (Fuson) Fields. As a teenager, Jim was introduced to Anita Varney at Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church in Detroit. Jim and Anita started dating, fell in love, and were married on August 23, 1969. From 1966 until 1968, Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. After his discharge, he went on to a successful career with the Chrysler Corporation for 43 years until his retirement in the fall of 2008. Jim was a dedicated Christian who served his churches faithfully in the role of Deacon and Sunday School teacher alike. In his free time, Jim enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing mahjong, going fishing, and road trips and cruises all over the United States and the Caribbean. However, above all else, Jim loved to spend time with his family; especially his beloved grandchildren!
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Coleman and Ruth, and his sister Marylou Thomason.
Jim will be buried at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider memorial contributions in his honor to the Oxbow Lake Baptist Church in White Lake.
