Judy was born February 19, 1939, in Kosciusko, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Ervin Peavy and Ollie Odom Peavy.
Judy was a member of Richland United Methodist Church, and enjoyed a lengthy career in her family’s business, Neely’s Starter and Alternator. Her hobbies included word puzzles and visiting with others. A faithful friend to many, even after these many years Judy maintained relationships with many of her schoolmates. She simply enjoyed people- listening, sharing and bringing a smile to brighten someone’s day.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Judy delighted in her family and caring for them. She was a PTA mom, always involved in her son’s activities, and later those of her grandchildren. She loved Christmas with the grandkids, and reveled in buying their gifts. Judy also enjoyed cooking for her family, and no one could duplicate her fried chicken, biscuits, and dressing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Neely; granddaughter, Mandy Neely; daughter-in-law, Wanda Neely; and siblings, Buddy Peavy, Earnest Peavy, Beatrice Phillips, and Grace Reed.
Survivors include sons, Ricky Neely and wife Donna, Kenny Neely and wife Pam, and Glenn Neely; sister, Ruth Williams, grandchildren, Betty Hovis, Shane Neely, Christopher Neely, and Brandy Bridges; 7 great-grandchildren; and nieces, Brenda Sansing, Billie Mire, and Betty Jo Reed.
The family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation to the nurses and staff of Hospice Ministries for their compassionate care and support.
Memorials may be made in Judy’s memory to Hospice Ministries, 450 Towne Center Blvd, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
