Rita “Memaw”, moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1973 and has resided here ever since. She graduated from Homer High School. Rita loved watching the “Days of Our Lives” and playing cards with her family and friends. Her bright smile and joyous laugh will be certainly missed by all who loved her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Hurd; parents, Donell and Elizabeth Riley; and siblings, Betty, Stubb, Helen, and Leo. She is survived by her children, Margaret Hansen, David Tarbaux, Susie Etheridge (Scott), Laurie Davis (Robert), and Christopher Hurd; grandchildren, Amy and Justin Etheridge, Andrew Hurd and Eli Davis, and Andrew Hurd (Andy), and one great grandchild, Adrian Prewitt.
The visitation will be held at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, May 16, 2020 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Eastern Gate Chapel. The funeral service will be led by Pastor Ed McGraw, and will take place on Sunday, May, 17, 2020 at 10:00am in the Eastern Gate Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial donations be made to Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens for assistance with burial costs for Rita.
