Lonnie Ray Holotik Jr. was called to the Lord May 14, 2020. Lonnie was Born in Tyler, Texas April 12, 1944. He was a graduate of Robert E. lee High School and East Texas State University. Lonnie spent many successful years in the Oil and Gas industry. He loved hunting, fishing, his friends and his family. Lonnie is survived by his wife Gail Vicars Holotik, daughters Merry Margaret Holotik Smith, Elizabeth Holotik Hayslip with husband Jeff, son Lonnie Ray Holotik III with wife Olivia, stepsons Jared Moossy and Brandon Moossy, grandchildren Jackson Smith, Caroline Smith, Hadley Hayslip, Madelyn McKenzie, sisters Merryjayne Davis, Rosie Waters, Debbie Bell, Patsy Burke, and brother Jim Holotik along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Lonnie once wrote, “try to master the principle of caring. Even if you are a little shy, people know when you are truly concerned about them. Jesus thought this to be so important that he said, ‘A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.’ (John 13: 34-35). If our relationships are the most valuable commodity we can own in this world, one would expect that everyone everywhere would assign friendship the highest priority.” Lonnie was a joy to be with and will be missed by all who knew him.
We are thankful for all the acts of kindness generated by his many friends in this time of thanksgiving for Lonnie’s life. Due to Covid-19, the family wishes not to endanger anyone and will have a private memorial service honoring Lonnie’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center - Head & Neck Cancer.
