It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of Ian. Ian was born in Cranbrook, BC and died in Maple Ridge, BC. He is survived by his loving parents, Ron and Ann, sister Paula (Mike), his faithful dog Oliver and extended family and many friends. Ian was a very caring and compassionate man. He was an accomplished photographer and always had a camera by his side or in his hand. Many of his pictures hang in our home along many he posted to the internet. Ian always loved being outdoors. He loved to ski; starting at the age of six at Whitewater when we lived in Nelson, then at Silver Star and Big White when we moved to Vernon. He loved to hike; at the age of 15, he and his Dad enjoyed the great experience of hiking the West Coast Trail together. He loved camping, (especially at the spots where he could fish). And he loved to walk with Oliver, his dog, on the dykes in Maple Ridge. We have many beautiful photos taken by Ian from these walks. He also loved working with us on our Pender Island retreat. At the end of those days of work, he would jump into the ocean for a very cold swim to cool off! Ian enjoyed his career with BC Hydro and more recently driving transport truck through British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, at times a particularly challenging task given the winter conditions in the mountain passes. Ian will be greatly missed.
