Rainer was born to Herbert and Eleonore Winckelmann on November 29, 1950 in Munich, Germany. When he was one, he moved to the United States. He lived most of his childhood in Waveland, Mississippi. When he was 19 years old, he joined the Navy. Rainer was in the Vietnam war and served on the Midway. He finished his 4 years of service and continued to work in civil service in the weapons department as the ESO (Explosives Safety Officer) in Alameda and Lemoore California for 42 years. He also was an umpire and the Deputy Umpire in Charge for the Central California Softball Association. He loved umpiring and enjoyed this job and hobby for over 40 years.
Rainer is survived by Karen Winckelmann (spouse), daughters Jamie (Winckelmann) Dugo and Jodie (Winckelmann) Brandon, Son In Laws Brian Dugo and Dave Brandon and grandchildren Carlie Winckelmann, Jacob Dugo, Bailey Dugo, Brittany Dugo, Brooklyn Dugo, Joseph Otto Dugo, Brylee Dugo, Cody Brandon, and Jordan Rainer Dugo. He is also survived by his sister Ulrike (Winckelmann) O'neal, nephews Kenny O'neal, Dustin O'neal, and Marshall Thomas, and nieces Lisa (O'neal) Thomas, Lanetta O'neal, and Missy O'Neal
Rainer is preceded in death by his son Jason Otto Winckelmann, father Herbert Winckelmann, mothers Eleonore Winckelmann and Eva Winckelmann, and brother in law David O'neal.
Loved ones would like to give a heartfelt thank you to GOD, family, and friends for all the support through these sad times. Rainer (Wink) Winckelmann leaves amazing memories in so many hearts and is deeply missed.
