Birth: 17 August 1918 Death: 08 May 2020
101 years is a long time for a heart to beat. Helena Janke filled her heart with family friends and a lifetime of giving to others. Born in Forest Grove to Otto and Martha Lloyd Kirstein she was less than two years old when the family moved to St Johns where her younger brother Lloyd was born. She grew up in the house her father built. She attended Sitton, James, John and Roosevelt schools. In 1937 she married the neighbor boy Lewis Janke. At the time of Lewis’ death, they were married 73 years. They are survived by their three children Linda (James) Rydman. Lawrence (Phyllis) Janke. Joanne (Duane) Goodman. She was an especially loving and giving Grandma to seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to keeping a safe loving home she worked as a supervisor in a medical lab and for a number of years in an attorney's office. Her love of poetry was a gift to her children. She maintained long friendships and was very generous to those in need. Most of all we were blessed to call her Mom.
