Yuet was born in Hoiping, China on November 18, 1927, to Dick You Quan and Ning Hai Wong. She was a strong woman who moved to Houston in 1980 to live with her son, Wayne. Raising six children, she was close to her family and worked hard raising them to be wonderful parents to their own children. Ms. Kwan took on many roles in their lives including being a provider for her family needs, a person to listen to problems, and a shoulder to cry on.
During her last 40 years, she was active and enjoyed keeping herself busy. Yuet had many hobbies including sewing, yard work and gardening. She is remembered as a passionate and talented cook who loved providing meals during holidays, family and church fellowship events. She loved to prepare steamed Chinese pastries. Yuet would make more than enough food to show her devoted love to those who came under her roof.
Ms. Kwan enjoyed traveling, where she had opportunities to visit Washington DC, New York City, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Las Vegas, El Paso, Mexico City, Vancouver, Calgary-Banff; took several cruises to Alaska, Ensenada, Cancun, and Cozumel. In bonding with her grandchildren, she would love to play various board games including Sequence, because she would often be the winner. To wind down the day in the evening, she loved to watch Hong Kong dramas. She was also a big Rockets (Basketball) fan and she watched the games regularly on TV whenever her grandson, Peter, informed her of the schedule.
Her morning routine consisted of doing Tai Chi exercises, having breakfast afterwards, then sitting in front of her desk to read her Bible and pray. In those quiet moments, she had a little Christian song book from her Sunday School Class, which she sang as her daily devotion to God. Ms. Kwan was a faithful member of Chinese Baptist Church - Houston, helped in the church nursery and kitchen and she served in WMU (Women Mission Union).
She is survived by her six children, Wayne, Judy, Rosetta, Maretta, Linda and Susan along with her brothers Ming Quon and Len Kwan, many of her grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
