Desiree Athena Marshall was an extraordinary person that will be greatly missed by all. She was a kind and genuine soul who should not have lost her life to Covid-19. She was a fighter till the end! Born July 30th, 1968 to the late Bruce & Geraldine Woods. She was survived by her two children, Lee Jr (33) and Shannon (26). She put her heart and soul in raising her children and they were her pride and joy. Her face would light up every time she spoke about them. She had that special bond that could not be broken. She was their rock, their best friend, their biggest fan, their confidant….their EVERYTHING. She was also survived by her spouse of 28 years, Lee Sr. and her loving siblings Tank (Angie), Dawn, Birdy, Kurt and Teisha along with a host of in-laws, cousins, and really good friends.
Growing up, her father penned a very mysterious and memorable nickname, Leaky, that everyone called her throughout her life. She graduated from Central High School and continued her education at Ross Medical and began her career in the medical field that lasted 20+ years, making some of the best friends over that time. She enjoyed the casino, theatre, petting farms, favorite vacation spots like Niagara Falls and Frankenmuth. Desi’s heart was so big, she had no boundaries. She loved her fur babies, Pirate and Cowboy. She loved all animals as if they were her own. She truly loved her family, friends, coworkers, music, plants, coffee, the Detroit Tigers, and Prince.

Prayer for the Marshall/ Woods Family
In Jesus name I lift Shannon, Lee Jr, Lee Sr and the entire family. I pray that you give them your peace, a peace that passes all understanding. We thank you father that Desiree is at rest in your loving arms. She is now surrounded by her mom, dad, and other family members that welcomed her into your kingdom. Give this family the final closure they need with her passing and let us come together, in love, to celebrate the life of Desiree as she has now gone home to you. Amen. God bless! - All our love, Tank and Angie
“Funny enough, she was the only child of 5 that didn’t drive our mother crazy” Sister, Dawn
“Desi was a great sister in law, we shared many good times. We were casino buddies and traveled to Canada quite often. We want her to remember she will be truly missed and that she’s not alone” Sister & Brother in law, Aleta & Evan Rhone
Desiree Marshall, words can't express how much I'm missing you. I will always remember our trips to Walmart, going to see movies and most of all our rides to work in the mornings. When I first met you 8 long years ago at Main Center, I knew you were special. I know now that God sent me an angel and I will always have a special place in my heart. I understand God needed his angel home but I am saddened my dear friend that we couldn't say our goodbyes. Don’t worry about my Niecey Pooh and Lee Lee because you showed me how to be there for them and I always will. Until we meet again my Desi Marshall I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU. Delishunda
You are near, even if I don’t see you. You are with me, even if you are far away. You are in my heart, in my thoughts, in my life always…. Raquel
This one was from Lee Jr.
On behalf of my sister and me, “Ma-Ma” was the mother that instilled individuality within us whether through a speech or a phone call. I believe I could do anything with an extreme optimism - outside of tradition or any ordinary upbringing. We enjoyed the same music altogether as a family along with an undying love for our beloved animals. We created and captured some of the best moments over time. We are all missing her and with a personal relief on my own, she has been set free as all strong spirits eventually do.
