Milenka “Mimi” Rengel, aged 48, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday night, May 27th 2020 at her mother's home in Garden Grove, California in the care of her mother and surrounded by her children and sister. She was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia on September 1, 1971 and lived there in the loving care of her extended family until the age of 7 before moving to California. She is survived by her mother, Delsya Benjamin; her father Gordon Benjamin; her sister, Katherine Benjamin; and her two sons--Brennan Tomm and Sean Tomm.
Mimi embodied the Abraham Lincoln quote “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.” Mimi was passionate about everything she tried and was game to try anything. She loved adventure, creating something from nothing, helping anyone in need, cuddling her devoted cat Mama and spending time in nature. In recent years Mimi discovered a love of the Colorado river and rehabbing homes. She will be remembered for her compassion, positivity in the face of great challenges, bright smile and hearty laugh.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 17th. At 10am there will be a mass held at St. Boniface in Anaheim that will be live-streamed to accommodate attendance in the time of Covid-19.
