It's with profound sadness that we, the family of Phyllis Jane Pearce, announce her passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family (as best we could due to Covid-19/not Covid-19 related) on Sunday June 7th, 2020.
Born in 1956 to Phillip and Hazel Mackenzie, she grew up in Sydney NS and loved to Roller skate, dance, and create havoc at times.
She adored all her brothers and sisters and was known to be the "spit fire" of the family.
Mom married her soul mate John in 1989 and has been fortunate enough to travel the world, make amazing friendships, and would light up the lives of everyone who knew her. She was always the life of the party.
She was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Hazel Mackenzie, husband John Pearce, and sister Shirley Washbrook.
Mom will be forever missed by her daughter, Kelly (Corey) Perry, grandchildren Reese, Harlee, Hannah and Kendall, brothers David and Wayne Mackenzie, sisters Dorothy Pratt and Darlene Tucker as well as many nieces and nephews also great nieces and nephews.
She will also be missed by her best friend of many years Gwen Smith (Glen) of Regina, Saskatchewan as well as our wonderful neighbor and close friend Anita Robinson-Budden.
Thank you to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital nurses and staff, Dr. Melanie Adams and Emily, Dr. Butler and Dr. Renwon. Without you, my mother would not have had the quality of life she did in her final years.
As my mom said, "Tell Kelly and everyone I love them and not to worry."
Well mom, we will try our best, but how can I do this without you? Until we meet again, I love you and miss you more than words can say. Our beautiful Angel, my role model, my best friend in life, sleep well.
In following mom’s wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home Glace Bay.
