Mary Jo (Fritton) Henik, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on May 22, 2020. Mary Jo was born November 3, 1934 in Topeka, KS, to Leo Beno Fritton and Mildred Mary (Jones) Fritton. She attended Hayden High School in Topeka, and graduated in 1952. She married the love of her life John Henik on November 10, 1954 and enjoyed 65 years of married life.
Mary Jo retired from Southwestern Bell in 1990 and her second retirement came in 2015 from Victoria Arms. Mary Jo and John enjoyed traveling from out west to their favorite family vacation spot, Myrtle Beach, SC. Her and John loved going to their granddaughter's dance recitals and competitions, as well as their grandson's BMX racing, soccer and baseball games. They loved Jazz music and would attend Jazz concerts by the Red Onion Jazz Babies.
Mary Jo was a devout Catholic, who enjoyed going to Mass each day that she was able. She enjoyed her time with our Lord at the Adoration Chapel at Our Lady of Lourdes. She was a long time choir member of St. Bernadette's and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus.
Mary is proceeded in death by her parents; daughter Roxann Henik; great grandson Kevin Clauson and brother-in-law Richard Henik, of Youngstown, OH. Survivors include her loving husband John Henik; brother Richard Fritton (Cathy); sons John Rob Henik (Denise) and David Lee Henik (Kelly); grandchildren Jonathan Henik (Cheri), Kacey Henik, Cooper Henik, and Miles Clauson; great grandchildren Anthony, Dominic and Rocklyn; nephews Gavin Fritton (Amy), Ritchie Fritton (Soo Yon Kwon), Chris Fritton, Clark Fritton, and Will Fritton; nieces Jill Henik, Sherry Henik, and Hope Fritton. Mary Jo also leaves behind her beloved German Shepard Clancy, who misses her greatly.
Visitation will be 9am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10am on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 9020 E. 51st Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64133. Inurnment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
