Jackie Evelyn Little of Burnet, TX passed away on June 12, 2020, she was born September 1, 1934 in Brownfield, Texas. She was the eldest daughter of Juanita Teague and Virgil Dee (Jack) Little at the home of her grandparents, Laura and Lee Smith. Her parents left the plains of Texas during the depression and dust bowl days for California. Jackie was the eldest of their four children, Laurah, Vivian (Butch), and Ben who was the only boy. Her father died when Jackie was five years old and the family returned to Texas. Her mother remarried and she gained another sister, Charlotte. She attended all her schooling in Brownfield and spent the World War II years growing Victory Gardens and participating in all the various drives to support the war effort. She was of the Baptist faith and while incredibly young she met her future husband, Kenneth Jackson. They were married on September 10, 1949 in Brownfield and this union lasted until his death on April 9, 2019, just short of 70 years together. They became parents of four children, Kenna Lynn born May 11, 1951, Gary David born May 12, 1952, James Richard (Ricky) born September 28, 1953, and Traycee Francis on June 14, 1958.
Ricky died due to childhood Leukemia in Lubbock, TX on September 30, 1959. Shortly after his death the family relocated to El Paso, TX and Kenna, Gary and Traycee attended all their schooling there. Long before computers Jackie attended El Paso Community College to study Business Machines and Data Programming.
In El Paso she owned a ceramic shop ‘Out of the Ordinary’, where she mastered her love of ceramics. She also had an immense passion for cooking, sewing, and gardening. In 1990, Kenneth and Jackie moved to Burnet, Texas where they fell in love with the Hill Country, purchased their country home and hosted many family functions. They had many adored grandchildren and from the moment of the first grandchild, she was thereafter called Granny and you could not visit Granny without having a delicious meal.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, her children Kenna and Ricky, sisters Laurah and Butch, brother Ben and grandson Jeremey. She is survived by her sister Charlotte and husband Eugene Fisher of San Antonio, son Gary and wife Christine of La Vernia, daughter Traycee and husband Lance Wagner of Seaside, Oregon, and 12 grandchildren, Cari, Jason, Jacob, Cristi, James, Stefanie, Jared, Jackson, Kenni, Freedom, Jayden and Gus. 14 Great grandchildren – Kennedy, Jeremey, Jayric, Ryan, Jaylee, Evan, Jordin, Jayden, Jurney, Evelyn, Emjay, Bennett, Eleanor, and Lily. Numerous nieces and nephews whom she considered as her own children.
A celebration of life service will be held Labor Day weekend, 2020 at Log Country Cove.
