Dawn was born on September 7, 1970, to Ernie Moffit and Bonnie Brutsch in San Diego, California, at the naval hospital where her dad was stationed. While living in San Diego, she enjoyed the San Diego Zoo, the beach, visiting her grandmother in Ventura and her uncle in Los Angeles.
Dawn and her mom moved to Reno, Nevada, where they met Mike Mills and began a life as a family. Dawn took up skiing at Mt. Rose, boating on Lake Tahoe, and 4H, where she showed her favorite bunny, Cotton.
Grants Pass is home to the Moffit family. Dawn moved here and spent many years reconnecting with her dad. Dawn loved the beach and spending time with her friends on the river. They would laugh and carry on. She was there for them no matter what. Dawn had an infectious laugh and was always up for an adventure. She was an avid animal advocate and dearly loved her dog, Gypsy.
Dawn had her ups and downs in life, but she always stayed true to herself. She had the constant love and support of her mom. They were each others’ rock.
Dawn is preceded in death by her dad, Ernie; uncle, Gary; and her grandparents.
Dawn is survived by her mom, Bonnie Brutsch; aunts Susie Mullen, Barbara Lutz, Beverly Howe, Patricia Helm, Barbara Byrd, Sherri Winfree and Judy Garrison; and cousins, David Mullen, Tammy Turley, Rondi Wolff and Shanden Brutsch.
A Celebration of Dawn’s life will be held at a later date which is still to be determined. Please visit www.dignitymemorial.com to post a memory about Dawn and for updates about the celebration.
