It is with great sadness and despair that we announce on June 15, 2020 our beautiful mother and wife Noelia was unexpectedly called to take her place among the angels.
Noel, her preferred name, is survived by her husband Paul, children Dylan and Laura, brother-in-law David Mayo (Angela) brothers, Terry (Lesa) and Roy (Andrea).
On a chilly spring day 49 years ago, Noel was born into a loud traditional, Portuguese family in downtown Toronto. Thus her exuberant passion for family, food, and friends ensued.
Paul and Noel’s love story began 33 years ago when they met through a mutual friend. They dated for five years before tying the knot and creating a beautiful family and life together. Paul was her soulmate and her children were her pride and joy. Laura and Noel were not only mother and daughter; they were truly best friends. Dylan and Noel were constantly joining forces against Paul and Laura to cause mischief. She was a Mom who always made time for her close knit family because she believed that family came first.
In the summer you could often find Noel beautifying her backyard and garden. After a hard day of working in the yard, she could be found relaxing in her Jacuzzi and reading a book. She enjoyed playing Candy Crush on her Ipad, or watching soap operas and nibbling on Twizzlers while her fur babies Sammi, Shadow and Frank cuddled with her on the couch.
Attending Notre Dame high school many years ago, she met her best friend and soul sister, Fatima, and through the years she met her other lifelong friends Kelly, Lisa, Lana, and Denise. They will undoubtedly miss her sense of humour, quick wit and positive energy.
Having tended bar at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 1/42 for more than 10 years Noel forged several friendships with staff and members. She volunteered with the ladies’ auxiliary, sold poppies for Remembrance Day, and unselfishly gave her time helping her community. Legion members and staff will surely miss her companionship and beautiful smile beaming from behind the bar.
On any given day, laughter and sarcasm could always be heard coming from the Mayo household. Noel enjoyed teasing her family and making them laugh with her quirky sense of humour. Her laugh will forever be audible in the ears of those who loved her and who will always remember her telling them “I LOVES YOU”.
