Mike is survived by his wife and best friend of 37 years, Susan. He is also survived by his father-in-law Kenneth R. Ervin, Jr., his sister-in-law, Bonnie Burgoyne (Mike); sister, Ginger Rushing (Joe); nieces Heather Bartko (John), Sommer Greenlee, and Natalie Moody (Ryan), and nephews, Danny Clayton (Caitlyn), Peyton Warren and Randy Ming. He has several great nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his fur babies Angel, Buddy, Sweetie, dog-in-law Josh, and several cats!
He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Willadeen Ming, his brothers, Terry Ming and Randy Ming; his grandparents – Hillery and Eva Ming and Byron and Tressie Brannon and his mother-in-law Heather Rodger Ervin.
Mike was born November 22, 1957 in Jackson, Mississippi. He was a life long resident of Clinton, Mississippi. He attended Clinton High School and Hinds Community College. He owned the Clinton Shoppette convenience store from 1981 - 2000. He then served as a runner for Upshaw Williams and Copeland, Cook , Taylor & Bush law firms. Mike enjoyed his work and loved giving his co-workers a hard time! Mike loved animals. He liked feeding all the squirrels and birds in the back yard. He liked watching college football on the patio with his dogs while smoking a cigar. He was a big Mississippi State fan, but he also cheered for Ole Miss! He loved music. He knew the words to almost every song written. His favorite singer/composer was Elton John and his favorite song was “Daniel”. He also loved his 1972 Oldsmobile 442. He liked running it through the quarter with his friend Mark Morrison (Deceased) on Kickapoo Road. He also loved out running his wife in her Camaros. Whenever you would see Mike he would always say “Hey, How ya doing” and when you ask him how he was he would say “Beautiful, but you already knew that, “Perfect” or “Just Right” even though he was in pain. He would never let you know he was hurting.
The family would like to express their deepest thanks to Dr. Brandon P. Garriga and Dr. Charles E. Evans, III and all the nurses at the St. Dominics ICU for taking good care of him. They were all very kind and compassionate. They would also like to thank Dr. Michael Morgan, his nurse, Lindsey Mitchell, Dr. John Studdard, and nurse Practitioner Bonney Simmons for taking good care of him over the years. They would also like to thank Al Tate for being a good friend to him and putting up with him all these years and being there when he needed him.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to Community Animal Rescue and Adoption.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a funeral service at 11:00 am at Lakewood Funeral Home. Interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.
