Sister Charlene Baller, SLW, went to her eternal home June 14, 2020, just short of her 96th birthday. She would have celebrated her 80th Jubilee next year. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Aloysius Baller, her mother, Cecilia Schneider Baller, her stepmother, Elizabeth Yunker Springinsfeld, her stepbrother, Charles, and her two Sisters Lorraine and Jeanette, both BVM Sisters. Sister Charlene entered the Sisters of Christian Charity in 1938 and later was one of the founding members of the Sisters of the Living Word in 1975. She was a dedicated teacher and principal, having taught in various schools in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, as well as St. Louis, Missouri, Michigan and Iowa from 1943 to 2002. Sister Charlene was gentle, kind, loved humor, and dogs. In her last years she resided at Resurrection Life Center, Chicago, IL, where she was lovingly cared for until her death. Her delightful spirit will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 24, 2020 from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery, 4901 N. Clark Street in Chicago. In lieu of flowers, contributions to The Sisters of the Living Word, 800 N. Fernandez, Arlington Heights, IL 60004 appreciated.
