She was the daughter of Joyce Wadephul Harris and the late Oris Wayne Harris.
She is survived by her children, Rebecca Zerbe Lederman and Barry Harris and grandson, Kain Harris; siblings: David (Kari) Harris, Westmont; Patricia (Robert) Stacy, Montgomery; Deborah Atkinson, Joliet; Susan (Garry) Inboden, Delavan, WI; Steve (Dorothy) Harris, Bolingbrook & Irmgard Ertl, Germany; numerous aunts and uncles, and nieces and nephews; special friends Billie Jarvis & Shirley Mosakowski and many other friends, too numerous to count.
Caroline served as a bartender at Nel’s Old Time Inn for over 20 years. She was also a bus driver for the Naperville School District. Caroline loved life, loved animals, especially lions and leopards, her dog Skarlett and cat Kelso, loved her Green Bay Packers, jewelry making, and diamond crafting, playing dominos, Halloween, scary movies, dill pickles, and cooking – always experimenting with recipes.
Caroline was loved by her family and friends. She was a best friend/second mom to many. She was amazing and told great stories. She was the queen of “I licked it – it is mine”. She had a comforting and generous heart and her sense of humor was second to none. Caroline was quirky, silly. She taught children to “embrace their weird” and speak your piece. Wear that silly hat. Love yourself and have fun.
With Caroline’s passing, the dominos table is one player short, 2 kids lost their mom, a mother lost her daughter, her grandchild lost his “Grandma Cheese”, nieces and nephews lost their aunt, and many lost their dear friend.
Caroline’s final generous gift was through the Gift of Hope, as an organ and tissue donor.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Go Fund Me account set up for her funeral expenses.
