Jose was born on August 20, 1935 in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico to Reymundo Torres and Concepcion Torres Cruz. He graduated from Sally University and went on to complete vocational training in Mechanical Engineering. On November 10, 1957, Jose married the love of his life Lydia Soto, whom he tremendously adored. On January 1, 1957 and January 28, 1958, respectively, they welcomed their first two children. Jose later extended his family with two sons, who were born on August 10, 1969 and December 14, 1970, respectively.
Jose was a force to be reverenced; he had so much personality, depth, and stories to share with his grandchildren. He often spoke to his children and grandchildren about the importance of having a strong relationship with the Lord, putting God first, and his love for all things mechanical. Jose was a devout man of God, who sought the Lord’s counsel and guidance in every circumstance. He was also a protective, loving, and devoted husband to Lydia Torres. Jose enjoyed spending time with his Nena, painting scenic canvas, reading the Bible, working on cars/planes, listening to Christian and 60’s and 70’s country music, and watching television. He will be profoundly missed by his spouse, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation for Jose will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 1:00PM to 2:00PM at Kraeer Funeral Home on 200 West Copans Road in Pompano Beach, FL followed by the funeral services at 2:00PM. A committal service will also occur on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 3PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
