As a self-proclaimed “army brat”, Rosalinda lived in several areas across the United States and Germany starting with her birthplace San Francisco, California October 05, 1950. After that, she and her family lived in Fort Polk, Louisiana, Fort Riley, Kansas, Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, and Germany before they moved to Oahu, Hawaii. She spoke fondly of her time in many of these places but especially her favorite—Hawaii where she always dreamed of returning.
Rosalinda moved to Dallas, Texas from Hawaii around the age of junior high. She loved athletics as an adolescent and competed in track events like triple jump. She would brag of being faster than the boys and her brothers have agreed. By the time she reached high school, she developed in to quite the looker and even won a beauty pageant earning her the title “Ms Pleasant Grove” at the age of 18 in 1968.
Rosalinda most cherished her role as mother and later as grandmother. With her sons, she attended all their sporting events fully equipped with her cowbell and the loudest cheering voice in the fan section. She excelled at keeping a close eye on her boys and keeping them out of trouble. She often reminded them “I brought you in to this world and I can take you out”. She even volunteered as a cheerleading coach for their football team and a chaperone at the prom in part to keep up with their social life.
As a resilient survivor of some life struggles, Rosalinda did not fear hard work and often had at least 2 jobs to help ends meet. She used her creativity and talents at crafting to earn additional money and her mums became legendary at WT White high school. Rosalinda knew the value of family and reinforced this regularly with her sons. She would appreciate that they now live in walking distance to each other’s homes and continue to maintain a very close relationship.
Rosalinda worked in banking for most of her career—over 25 years. She lacked passion for this industry and she took a chance to work for Southwest Airlines which better matched her fun-loving attitude. She always talked about the parties and fun things she did at work. She truly loved this job and did this until she eventually stopped working. She began to develop signs of early onset dementia in her mid 50s and eventually moved in with her beloved mother Josephine Robles and later her son Brian and his wife Allison and their 2 children Grayson and Max. Rosalinda identified a couple of “bucket list” things she wanted to complete with her family and vacation plans ensued. First, an 11 day road trip with her sons Clint and Brian and Brian’s wife Allison. The 4 of them traveled from San Francisco down to San Diego along the Pacific Coast Highway with no real schedule or itinerary--truly an adventure of a lifetime. Second, a dream vacation to Hawaii with her son Brian (and wife Allison and son Grayson) and her brother Larry and his family. She lived with Brian and Allison until her dementia advanced to the point that she needed care beyond what the family could provide and eventually transitioned in to a memory care center in late 2013.
Rosalinda is survived by her son Brian Lander (wife Allison, sons Grayson and Max) and by her son Clint Lander (wife Christin, son Harvey and another son expected August 2020) along with her brother Larry Robles (wife Ursula) and brother Jose Robles (wife Linda) and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother Josephine Robles and her father Lazaro Robles.
