He leaves behind his wife Rosemary and children Jesus "Jesse" Mendez III, Kristina (Mario Lopez) all of Oxnard, CA, and (Jeremy Parson) of La Mesa, CA. Jesus also helped raise Rosemary's two children from a previous marriage- Clemente Echaveste Jr. (Annette) & Lisa (Chris Williams).
Jesus was born February 7, 1957 in Coahuila Mexico to father Jesus Mendez and Mother Valeriana Reyes-Olvera Mendez. He is survived by his 97 year old father, sisters Candelaria Reyes Mendez, Martha Reyes Mendez all of Oxnard, CA. and brother Xavier Mendez of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Jesus was proceeded in death by his mother Valeriana, sister Antonia Henderson, brother George Mendez, and first wife Sylvia all of Oxnard, CA. He also had many nieces and nephews that love and cared for him. Together the Mendez Family made Oxnard their home for nearly 50 years.
Shortly after graduating high school Jesus joined the United States Marine Corps where he served his country until his honorable discharge. This was also around the time Jesus met his first wife Sylvia Ayala and they had two children (Kristina and Cynthia). He later went on to work at Camarillo State Hospital as Psych Tech for 20+years. That is where he met his current wife Rosemary. Together they had Jesse and lovingly raised him until Jesus became very ill due to his fast moving cancer.
Jesus enjoyed music and dancing. He loved his family and loved having fun. He liked to travel and really living life. He had plans to retire in Las Vegas where he often liked to visit.
Services will be held Thursday 7/9/2020 at Funeraria Del Angel Oxnard at 401 W. Channel Islands Blvd in Oxnard. Private viewing ( immediate family) will begin at noon with public viewing starting at 1:00 pm. Rosary will be held from 4:00-5:00PM. Maximum occupancy at the funeral home is 25 people at a time and masks are required. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday 7/10/2020 at 10:00AM at Saint Anthony's Church in Oxnard with burial to follow at Santa Clara Cemetery. Maximum occupancy at church and cemetery is 100 people and masks are required.
