Passed peacefully at the age of 81, on Tuesday June 23, 2020 in Oceanview Manor, Eastern Passage. Born October 16, 1938 in Wolfville, Mona was the daughter of the late Graydon and Kathleen (Carey) Forsythe. She lived most of her adult life in Dartmouth, and is survived by her daughter Carla Purcell (Stephen) of Waverley, son Michael (Sarah-Jane) of Maryland, step-son Stewart O’Brien, Dartmouth; sister Eleanor Berrigan, grandchildren Nicholas & Kayleigh Purcell, Thomas & Theodore O’Brien and Allyson & Courtney O’Brien; many nieces and nephews and long time special companion Gordon Mathie. She was predeceased by her husband Carl in 1991, brother Owen, stepson Wayne O’Brien and brother-in-law Edward Berrigan. She moved to Dartmouth at a young age and worked in the car business where she met the love of her life, Carl. She was the apple of his eye and they created a beautiful family together. Always the life of the party, Mona loved to dance and socialize with her family and friends, Carl always said “the first one there and the last to leave.” “Going to coffee with the girls” at Tim’s was so special for her. Christmas was her favourite time of the year, she prepared and decorated early and enjoyed the decorations for a very extended season, she loved the Christmas visiting and people around her. She was a long-time member of Port Wallis United Church. Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Seaside unit who treated mom like family. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions there will be a small graveside service for family and a celebration of life the way mom would want it at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Society, or a charity of your choice. Mom, we will look for the first star in the night sky and think of you and dad together in heaven.
