Our sweet 98 year old daddy, Peter “Pete” Meziere passed away 6/25/2020 due to injuries from a serious fall. He fought so valiantly to recover but this time it was not to be. Peter was born in the small town of Campti LA to Henry and Ernestine Meziere. He was a farmer’s son, raised by his mother and along with his brother David due to the early death of his father. Daddy said life was hard working on the farm but it instilled values that has lasted a lifetime. His Catholic faith and belief in Jesus carried him through both the best and worst of days. Daddy moved to OKC before he was 20 by selling a cow and calf for $20.
He was a “cooper” at Armour Meat Packing Co making slack barrels for many years till they closed then went on to MassTrans as a city bus driver until he retired. Being 98 he had countless stories he regaled us with from his life adventures and was the best domino player around! Peter is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, his wife Joy, daughter, Dianna Middlebrook and grandson Pete Jr. He is survived by step-son Jimmie Jeffreys and wife Ann, son-in-law Donnie Middlebrook, daughter DeLana Meziere, daughter Vicki Stewart and husband John, son Petie Meziere, son Glenn Meziere and wife Ruby, daughter Jeanna Daniel and husband Lee. His grandchildren, the greats and great-greats meant the world to him! He will be so sorely missed. Peter was a champion of life, working hard and to the fullest. We will miss you forever and always daddy, till we see you again. Visitation will be Sunday at Advantage Funeral Home 7720 S Penn OKC from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm; Catholic Mass will be Monday 6/29/20 at 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (mask required) 1100 N Sara RD Mustang OK with burial following at Sunset Memorial Park in Norman OK.
