Aurora (De Los Santos) Hale, passed away peacefully from this life and into God’s arms on June 27, 2020. She was born on November 4, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas to Amado and Antonio De Los Santos. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl Hale, beloved son Felix Apolinar, sister Edilia Herrera, niece Edilia (Edie) Herrera, sister-in-law, Antonia (Toni) De Los Santos, and brothers-in-law, Joe Herrera Sr. and Donald Hartman.
In her early thirties, when she became a single Mom of six, Aurora enrolled in a city program that provided technical job training. Upon completion of the program, she became the first female technician for Sears, where she repaired washers and dryers. She gained popularity and was sought after by clients for her service.
After many years of hard work and dedication, she retired from Sears and began to help her son, Felix Apolinar, with his home healthcare business. It was around this time, that she met her second husband, Earl Hale, a retired veteran and animal lover. She then earned certifications to pursue her own healthcare business.
Together they became involved in the southside Miller’s Pond community where they pursued their passion for gardening and raising animals. They also became fully immersed in the lives of their grandchildren and formed relationships with local businesses to raise funds for Little League uniforms and equipment.
Aurora was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Edward (Mary), Ernest (Maria), Michael (Eva), and Larry Apolinar, daughter, Jeanette Apolinar; brothers, Amado, Jesse (Rose), Gilbert (Mary) and John De Los Santos; sisters Carrie (Fernando) Garza, and Yolanda Hartman; daughter-in-law Eva Apolinar, 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude and appreciation to Vanessa Fonseca, who was Aurora’s care taker.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at San Fernando Catholic Church, 115 Main Plaza, in San Antonio, Texas.
