Known as Bootjack when he was a youngster, then when old enough and his choice, Pete to family and friends and always Napoleon to Bertha, age 84, passed away at his home on June 28, 2020. He was born to Laura Brown on April 14, 1936 in Selma, North Carolina. For a time, he lived with his Grandmother Hattie and for a period his Great Grandmother Jeanette.
In the fourth grade he and his mother moved to Washington, DC living in Southeast until their permanent move to the Ames Street house in the NE neighborhood of River Terrace. From there he graduated from Spingarn High School, married and raised children.
After graduation worked as a Salesman at W.S. Jinks and Son hardware store which was located in what is now called Chinatown in DC, then in his late twenties early thirties went to work for Castle Wholesalers until retirement. After retiring from Castle, he realized he missed the social atmosphere and comradery of providing hardware and tools to the public so for a time worked part-time at Yes Electric in Alexandria, Virginia.
He enjoyed his twice weekly league bowling for over 50 years, his annual treks with the fellas to the Newport Virginia Jazz Festival and as everyone who knew, he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.
Preceding him in death in April of this year was his beloved wife Bertha P. Jordan. Also preceding him in death was his Grandmother Hattie Brown Holder, Step Grandfather Judge Holder, his Mother Laura Brown Underwood and his Stepfather Underwood.
He is survived by his son Keith Jordan, daughter and son-in-law Karen Jordan and Daniel Davis.
He will be missed by a host of family members and a multitude of friends.
