It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, Antonio Gino Zanusso at the age of 90. He was born in Bavaria, Italy, and was raised by his mother who was widowed when Gino was 2. At the age of 20 he immigrated to Canada arriving in New Westminster in 1949. He began a 38 year career with Canfor Pacific Veneer and was a shoemaker for Lobel Orthopedics in New Westminster. He was a member of the Queensborough Roma Hall (Italian Mutual Aid Society) for 71 years. Gino’s legacy of wine making and his unique culinary skills was shared with countless friends and family. He was a generous, hardworking, passionate man who loved the outdoors particularly fishing. He is back in the arms of his loving wife, Anne, who is singing to him once again. Gino is predeceased by his mother Albina, his sister Lucia, his stepfather Albino, and his father Giuseppe. He leaves behind his children Lenora (Ernie), Bob, Lili (Mike), Ray (Joanne), as well as 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
A private funeral will be held.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of The Residence at Clayton Heights for going above and beyond in caring for our father.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Italian Mutual Aid Society, Roma Hall, Queensborough would be appreciated.
