Linda Whitt Cardwell went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 4, 2020. Visitation will be held on July 9, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. followed by funeral services on July 10, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Terrell, Texas. Burial will follow at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell, Texas.
Whitt was born on June 28, 1945 to Carter Whitt and Ruth Mae Sturgeon Whitt in Little Rock, Arkansas. She graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth, Texas and the University of Alabama. At Bama she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, and met her husband. She spent 28 years as an elementary school teacher and instilled a love of books and reading in her students. Whitt retired from Nocona ISD in 2012 and relocated to McKinney, Texas. She never met a stranger and had an affinity for making new friends. She spent her time in McKinney volunteering in the youth program at Citychurch and attending multiple Bible studies during the week. Her family and friends will remember her as a loving woman of faith with a keen sense of humor and a unique ability to see the light in every child.
She is survived by her brother, Dr. Michael Whitt; daughter Whitney Cardwell and husband Jim Holcomb, Jr.; daughter Meghan Cardwell-Wilson and husband Bascom Wilson, and their child Lucy Wilson; nephew Garrett Whitt; and niece Lazuli Whitt and husband Whitman Shenk, and their children Ozzie and Huck.
For memorial contributions the family has designated the Whitt Cardwell Scholarship Fund at Citychurch Youth Outreach, 320 Industrial Boulevard #202, McKinney, Texas 75069.
