Jamie Fowler Thomson of Rome passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 7, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents Sarah Lee Fowler and James Wyman Fowler of Soperton, and sister Wylene Fowler Hester of Dublin. Mrs. Thomson was the wife of the late Frank Thomson of Rome and is survived by their children, Dick Thomson (Margaret) of Marietta, Jeannie Thomson MIller (Mark) of Kennesaw, Deborah Thomson of Cumming, Eric Thomson (Carol) of Armuchee, and John Thomson (Beth) of Canton, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Thomson was a graduate of the University of Georgia and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rome. She was a past-president of the West Rome High School Chieftain's Club where she advocated for a greater emphasis on academic sucess for all students. She retired from the Floyd County Department of Family and Children's Services where she was a case-worker and volunteer coordinator. Mrs. Thomson, a life-long nature lover was a skilled gardner and an avid bird watcher. She traveled extensively in the U.S. and thoughout the world, exploring all 7 continents including Antarctica. In retirement, she used her handwork skills to knit and crochet hundreds of hats, sweaters, baby blankets, prayer shawls, and comfort dolls for sick /needy children and adults across the globe.
