Hong Li, known as Lily to her Canadian friends, family and co-workers, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Providence Healthcare in Scarborough at the age of 57. Lily endured a debilitating and fierce battle with lung cancer for more than two years. Lily persevered in her fight without regrets. Lily was happy with all she had lived and accomplished. She was most proud of her son Bingran and his academic successes. Sadly, Lily will not be able to witness Bingran's graduation from the University of Toronto's Engineering Faculty. Lily was the loving and devoted wife and life partner to Armando. Lily will also be missed by her mother, Qunying and brother, Rongwei in China, as well as her extended family and friends. In Armando’s words, “Lily is my greatest loss.”
Lily was a personal support worker at Sunrise of Aurora since 2013. She was loved by the many residents in her care.
Lily enjoyed attending to her indoor plants, cooking, yoga, cycling, gardening, and growing her much loved lavender with Armando, even embarking on swimming lessons at the Murray cottage. She was a cost conscious shopper but also valued quality. She relished clipping coupons and price matching. She held the family unit in the highest esteem and found it best embodied in her favorite movie, On Golden Pond. The many parks and sites visited were rendered more beautiful with Lily at their centre!
