À Montréal, le 15 juillet 2020, à l’âge de 79 ans, est décédé le Dr. Gilles Thériault des suites d’une longue maladie. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, Hélène Garceau Thériault, ses filles, Valérie et Sarah (Alexandre Mongeau), son petit-fils, Simon Dubé, ses frères, François (Gisèle Normandin) et Michel (Nicole Tremblay), ses beaux-frères Yves Garceau (Jeanine Plourde), feu Jean-Pierre Garceau, Roger Garceau (Hélène Plourde) et sa belle-sœur feu Renée Garceau (René Chevrette). Il laisse également dans le deuil plusieurs neveux, nièces, parents, collègues et amis.
Gilles a œuvré dans le domaine de la santé au travail, comme enseignant, directeur et chercheur, principalement à l’université McGill. Il a eu une vie bien remplie, il était un homme bon, intelligent et extrêmement travaillant qui adorait aussi aller dans la nature en forêt à son chalet.
Selon les volontés de la famille, en ces circonstances de pandémie, les rituels funéraires se dérouleront dans l’intimité. Les cendres de Gilles seront enterrées auprès de ses parents au cimetière Ste-Marie-Madeleine, à Trois-Rivières.

It is with great sadness that we annonce Dr. Gilles Thériault passing away in Montreal on the 15th of July 2020, at the age of 79. He leaves to mourn his wife, Hélène Garceau Thériault, his daughters, Valérie and Sarah (Alexandre Mongeau), his grandson, Simon Dubé, his brothers, François (Gisèle Normandin) and Michel (Nicole Tremblay), as well as his brothers-in-law Yves Garceau (Jeanine Plourde), late Jean-Pierre Garceau, Roger Garceau (Hélène Plourde) and his late sister-in-law Renée Garceau (René Chevrette). He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, relatives, colleagues and friends.
Gilles enthusiastically worked in the field of occupational health, as professor, director and researcher, mainly at McGill University. He had a very active life, he was a kind and intelligent man as well as very hard working. He also used to love being at his cottage in nature by the lake.
Under the actual pandemic circumstances, a private memorial service will be held in the beginning of August. Gilles’ ashes will be burried next to his parents in Ste-Marie-Madeleine cemetery, in Trois-Rivières.
