Agnes was born March 18, 1955 in New Orleans to John W. and Lucille Werling Wilkerson.
She was an alumna of Bay High School, the University of Southern Mississippi, and Loyola University School of Law. She was a retired business owner of Mississippi Pet Supply and was actively involved with Pearl River County 4-H. Agnes was a devoted tutor and subsitute teacher in the Poplarville Community. Agnes was a lifelong member of the Clement R. Bontemps American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Unit 139, Bay St. Louis MS. Through her Junior ALA years, she had held all levels of leadership. Agnes had served the Unit as Secretary and President. Under both years of Presidency the Unit won the Outstanding Unit of the Year Award. She served as Girl's State Chairman and Education Chairman for which she received a National Award for College Night. She had served the Department of MS ALA as the Girl's State Director and Chairman for four years. Agnes returned to the Auxiliary assisting her mother as her chauffeur, but quickly became involved as the Department of MS ALA Public Relations Chairman and Parliamentarian. She was the Chair of the Fourth Congressional District of Mississippi and Chair of Pearl River County Democratic Committee, and a mentor and confidant to so many within the community.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lucius D. "Dunnie" Dalton in 2010.
Family members include her daughter Amy Dalton (Zachary Hauf); one brother, John E Wilkerson (Mary Ann); one sister; Beth Burleson (Tom); a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at White Funeral Home (315 Hwy 11 South, Poplarville, MS, 39470) on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens (154 Garrett and McGill Dr, Poplarville, MS, 39470). Visiting one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lucille Wilkerson Memorial Girls State Fund (c/o of Hancock Whitney Bank) or Pearl River County 4-H.
